Donald L. Richardson, aged 85, of Clarksville, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 14, 2010. Don was born in Clarksville, MI on January 24, 1925 to Orvey and Berta (Daily) Richardson. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Army shortly after graduation. He served in the South Pacific until his discharge in 1946. Don was united in marriage to Eva Matz on July 23, 1947. He was employed at General Motors in Grand Rapids for 38 years before his retirement. Don loved baseball and faithfully followed the Detroit Tigers. He had played softball and coached Little League for many years. Don was also a faithful fan of the Univ. of Michigan. He loved gardening and took pride in caring for his yard. Don is survived by Eva, his loving wife of 63 years; children, Mike and Mary Richardson, and Sue and Gaylord Wolbers; grandchildren, Ron (Joy) Wolbers, Brian (Chris) Atwell, Jeff (Kim) Richardson, Tom Richardson, Mike (Amy) Richardson, and Scott Richardson; great grandchildren, Chelsea and Patrick Adams, Shelby Wolbers, Kaleb Atwell, Kanon Atwell, Aidan Richardson, Callan Richardson, and Alexis Richardson; and sister-in-law, Frances Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter "Lefty" Richardson; and sister, Bessie Lumbert. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, March 16 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 17 at the Koops Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Clarksville Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Campbell Township Park.
