Mr. Vance Dale Lackey, aged 84, of Lake Odessa, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, October 2, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Margaret (Johnson) Lackey, brother, Lawrence Lackey; grandson, Jeffrey VanAlstine; granddaughter, Amy Cruz; and great grandson, Connor Moinet. Vance is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ardene (Scheidt) Lackey; children, Michael (Carolyn) Hilley, Sharon (Gary) VanAlstine, Gail (Ray) Brandt, Jeffrey (Vicki) Lackey, and Steven (Sally) Lackey; 19 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Douglas (Janice) Lackey; sister-in-law, Phyllis Lackey; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel from 6-8 PM on Monday, October 5, 2009. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 6 at the Koops Funeral Chapel. There will also be a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 AM on Tuesday and continuing until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson-Mutschler VFW Post #4461 in Lake Odessa, or to the Barry Community Hospice.
